Where do you get your juice?🔋

Where do you get your juice from? And no, I’m not talking about your morning smoothie or the fuel for your body (though that’s certainly important too). I’m talking about something far deeper—the source of your confidence, identity, and mojo. If you’re not drawing that power from within, you’re at the mercy of external influences. Even those you love most can’t supply this for you without it eventually draining you both. Relying on others to “juice you up” is, quite frankly, giving away your power.

For years, I was celebrated for the 51 businesses I built. While it’s a proud accomplishment, in hindsight, I can see I was unknowingly trying to earn love, respect, and self-worth. Like many entrepreneurs, I was striving to validate my worth externally. Entrepreneurs are among the most functional, yet deeply “unfunctional” people in the world. Eventually, we all reach the realization that our real value, our true “juice,” has to come from within.

Facing the internal dragons and embracing our brokenness is not a weakness but a strength. Parker Palmer once said, “Wholeness does not mean perfection; it means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life.” That statement resonated with me because it’s in this internal reckoning where real growth and healthy relationships flourish. This shift has transformed not just my personal life with my family, but also my business relationships, which are now stronger and healthier.

My friend, Scott Ford, coined a mantra I live by: “Batteries included.” In other words, bring your own energy to the table—don’t drain mine, and I won’t drain yours. This was inspired by the “vampire” idea I mentioned before, and it’s spot on. If you’re serious about making a lasting impact, about leaving a legacy beyond fleeting financial gains, then it’s vital to cultivate that inner source of strength and confidence. You need to stand tall on your own, independent of external validation.

From Gandhi to Churchill to today’s innovators, every impactful person draws from an internal reservoir. The path is clear: stand alone confidently, bring your own energy, and move forward with purpose.

Go forward and prosper, my dear friends.

All the best,
Rich
