Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It brings us together with those we love, fills our tables with delicious food, and reminds us to reflect on life’s blessings. Unlike so many other holidays, Thanksgiving remains refreshingly free from the weight of commercialism, allowing us to focus on gratitude and connection.
This year, I’d like to invite you to do something that has the power to transform your holiday—and perhaps even your heart. Take a moment to reflect on three people in your life. These may be people who feel overlooked, discouraged, isolated, or perhaps they’ve simply been quietly important in your world. Write each of them a personal note to express why you’re grateful for them. Be specific. Be sincere. Then, give or send those notes before Thanksgiving ends.
Here’s what happens when you express gratitude:
- You’ll feel more connected. Research shows that gratitude strengthens relationships and fosters well-being.
- They’ll feel more connected. A simple acknowledgment of their value can be transformative.
- Together, you’ll help heal our divided world. It starts with one person at a time.
Studies show that practicing gratitude doesn’t just feel good, it actually makes us happier. According to a Harvard Health study, people who regularly express gratitude report higher levels of happiness, better relationships, and even improved health. Gratitude rewires the brain to focus on positivity, which uplifts not only our own mood but the spirits of those around us.
This Thanksgiving, let’s embrace the power of gratitude to calm the noise and mend the divides. Sending you all the warmth, health, and joy this holiday season brings.
All my best,
Rich
