The Jeremiah Frame

I spent part of this morning with Jeremiah.

Not a long sojourn. Just enough to sit with him.

And what struck me is how little he resembles the figures we typically celebrate. No conquests. No empire. No public triumph. He is remembered, simply, as the weeping prophet.

A man who saw clearly, felt deeply, and had the rare courage to hold both sorrow and hope at the same time without resolving the tension between them.

There is something in that worth paying attention to.

Most of us have been trained to move fast. To push through. To perform our way forward. And when life slows us down, when the noise falls away and something quieter takes its place, we treat it like a problem to fix rather than a season to inhabit.

Jeremiah didn’t do that.
He modeled something rarer: the willingness to slow down not because you have to, but because speed no longer feels right. To lose interest in proving anything. To turn inward, not in retreat, but in refinement.

It is not a season of fixing.
It is a season of seeing.

“Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)

Stand. See. Ask. Walk.
Not sprint. Not perform. Not force.

These are the moments that catalyze the deepest transitions in our lives. The tectonic shifts that move us from one season into the next, not through pressure, but through alignment.
And I believe we are living in one of those moments right now.

Not just individually. Collectively.

The noise around us is loud. The opinions are urgent. The pressure to respond, react, and position ourselves is relentless.

But what if the most important contribution we can make right now isn’t a louder voice? What if the real work is quieter than we imagined? What if it happens not on the stage, but in the heart, where no one else can see or grade it?

That is the Jeremiah Frame.
It is not a strategy. It is a way of being.

Do we have the courage to stand still long enough to see?

With peace,
Rich
